- Lot Description
French Louis XVI style inlaid commode, late 19thc., having marble top, over three drawers with inlaid banding and matched veener, flanked by gilt metal-mounted pilasters, rising on metal-capped tapered legs, approx 34 5/8"h, 50 1/8"w, 22 3/8"d
Condition
03.08.24: In my opinion regarding LOT 1289: I note that the commode is presently intact and structurally sturdy, the marble top exhibits inherent natural inclusions and fissures, as well as having minor chipping to edges, a reinforced fracture with fill extending vertically down the central-left plane, and another fracture with reinforcement extending horizontally from the right hand edge, I observe patination of metal elements, and the drawers with splits to bottom paneling, and minute evidence of old woodworm commensurate with age and origin, there are a few minor fills to the matched veneer, as well as spots of minor veneer lifting, some of which have been reinforced/ laid down with adhesive, and areas of veneer chips, all drawers presently operate smoothly and close securely
