French Louis XVI style mahogany sideboard, 20th c., having shaped marble top, over conforming case, fitted with five drawers, over five cabinets opening to fixed-height shelving, mounted with gilt metal trim and foliate accents, rising on fluted tapering legs, marble top intact with restorations, in need of refinishing (discoloration, alligatoring and peeling lacquer), approx 40.75"h, 98.5"w, 21.75"d**NOTE: PART OF AAG'S END OF YEAR WAREHOUSE CLEARANCE, ALL ITEMS AS IS / ALL SALES FINAL**
11.20.24: In my opinion regarding LOT 1319: As described the marble top is intact with restorations, specifically at the back right corner and another towards the center-left extending from the back edge to the front, the marble also having inherent natural inclusions and fissures, as well as a very small number of typical minor chips to edges, there is tonal variation throughout the case, largely due to the yellowing of the varnish or sealant, which is also alligatoring/ crazing in scattered regions, some small spots of varnish peeling have been reinforced with a red wash, there is patination of the gilt metal trim, the escutcheon of central cabinet having a fracture below the keyhole but remaining secured to veneer, the interior shelving appearing sturdy, I observe a minor split with reinforcement adjacent to a small section of chipped loss to the lower edge trim at the left-hand side of case, and typical minor surface wear such as small nicks, abrasions, and chips commensurate with age and use
