- Lot Description
French Louis Philippe figured walnut commode, mid 19th c., having marble top, over case fitted with frieze drawer, and three standard drawers, shield-form escutcheons, rising on ribbed bracket feet, approx 37"h, 49 5/8"w, 22.25"d
Condition
11.21.24: In my opinion regarding LOT 2342: I note that the commode is presently intact, the marble top having inherent natural inclusions and fissures, as well as typical minor chipping, mostly concentrated along the unfinished back edge, the case having typical tonal variations throughout the veneer, as well as typical minor splits and light seam separation, some having filled reinforcement, such as the side panels, the drawer fronts having typical small filled veneer chips, and some patched repairs, all drawers currently operating smoothly, with some typical minor seam separation at bottom panel, the upper two drawers lacking tracks, I observe evidence of old woodworm commensurate with origin, and typical minor surface wear such as small abrasions and the aforementioned chipping, all being commensurate with age and use
