- Lot Description
Framed oil on canvas painting, depicting the Virgin Mary with the Holy Spirit, apparently unsigned, relined, sight: approx 29"h, 26"w, overall: approx 52.5"h, 40"w, 21lbs
Condition
2.8.24-In my opinion regarding LOT: 1312- The work was examined on the wall, please refer to the online images for a view of the back, as described, the canvas has been relined, presumable to stabilize the work, noted primarily along the edges there is some loss to the works edge with the rear canvas showing through, I have taken numerous images for your review, a UV examination reveals some small areas of paint loss, minor inpainting, the aforementioned areas of loss to canvas with visible rear canvas along edges, evidence of old varnish, and craquelure scattered throughout, there are some imperfections at corner and possible repair noted at right, there is a line mostly visible under UV light, the lower work has bulge at white banner, the frame in frame is intact with some typical small rubs and wear, I am not an expert on such works so please let me know should you have further questions, I have taken numerous images for your review
