Framed oil on canvas painting, Interior of a Church with Figures, sight: approx 32.25"h, 40.5"w, overall: approx 37.25"h, 45.75"w, 13lbs
Condition
09.04.24: In my opinion regarding LOT 3238: I note that the painting is presently intact and securely encased within frame, the canvas remaining relatively taut on the stretchers, the frame and stretchers having evidence of old woodworm, there is minor spotting and an accumulation of surface grime commensurate with age that would benefit from a professional cleaning, and there are remnants of an old, discolored varnish, I observe some minor flaked paint losses at the upper right quadrant and along lower edge in regions with craquelure, also in the upper right is a horizontal seam that appears strictly to the pigment (canvas verso does not show evidence of tearing or restoration, region does not fluoresce under UV light), UV light examination does not present evidence of repair or inpainting
