- Lot Description
English George III period mahogany library bookcase, early 19th c., overhanging cornice with gadrooned molding, four glazed doors framed by blind fretwork, lower case with four paneled doors faced by applied foliate carving, on a conforming plinth, interior lighting in need of wiring, approx 98"h, 103"w, 19.5"d
Condition
2.11.25-In my opinion regarding LOT: 1246-the structure stands sturdy and is beautifully detailed throughout, the upper wood case is a bit darker however door panels and upper freeze show tonal variation with warm hues of red and browns to the patina, I do not know if all of the glass is original, however, there are bubbles, waves, and irregularity scattered throughout, interior glass shelving is intact with no major breaks, chips, or cracks observed, the interior fabric liner is worn with some spotting and small losses, I note behind that lining there are supports for wood slats to accommodate adjustable shelving, see image, the top is fitted with oval cutouts, presumably to accommodate lighting or provide lighting to the interior, the wood case exhibits some typical very small and minor wood and veneer chips, rubs to finish, small trim losses, and general light wood wear, particularly along the base and right side of cabinet at top, see image, I am unable to fully view the left side please refer to online images, all mentioned are very minor and commensurate with age and use
