- Lot Description
American cast iron mantel clock, Ansonia Clock Company, late 19th c., having rectangular stepped case, with scrollwork and gilt painted accents, centering beveled glass dial viewing door, open escapement dial with Arabic hour markers, time-and-strike movement marked Ansonia Clock Co., patented June 18, 1882, accompanied by pendulum, observed operating for five minutes, rising on platform base, retaining Bucker Jewelry, Huntsville, Texas retailer's label verso, approx 11"h, 16"w, 6.75"d, 27.5lbs
Condition
1.14.25-LOT – 2565-As mentioned in the catalog description, the clock was observed operating for five minutes. The clock winds well and the movement responds to winding. The chime turn key appears to be slightly tight, indicating that it may be over-wound. As with all of our antique clocks, this piece would likely benefit from a professional cleaning and adjustment/inspection. The case has some typical minor rubs, light wear and slight paint loss.
