(4) Japanese swords in need of restoration or parts: (1) blade is 26.75"l, with hamon wave, some edge roughness 1.25" from tip, blade with some scratches, tang with Japanese characters, handle is unwrapped, black sharkskin a both sides, no pin, release button not present, scabbard with gilt mountings and one, overall approx. 39"l; (1) blade is 22" including habaki, hamon wave, several small nicks at edge, the blade tang with Japanese characters at one side, handle lacks pin, scab has a green flecked finish, overall 30.25"l; (1) blade is 20.75"l, fuller at both sides, some black spots near tip and along spine, tang has Japanese characters at one side, wood handle only partially wrapped, sharkskin at both sides, note attached to scabbard says "180 yr old", overall 28.5"l; (1) blade is 16.1/8"l, fuller at both sides, blade is dark, no writing on tang, sharkskin at wood handle, no wrapping, lack lacquered scabbard, overall 23.5"l, for shipping total of all 6.55lbs *Provenance: A consignment from the estate of a now deceased U.S. Army officer. Documents from the estate (not a part of this auction) indicate that three of the swords, not individually identified, were given to a U.S. Army Colonel, stationed in 1946 U.S. Occupied Japan.
