(pair) Chinese export blanc-de-chine porcelain jardinieres/ planters, each with sculpted branches bearing longevity peaches and roses in high relief encircling the exterior, approx 15.5"h, 19"diam **Provenance: the contents of the prominent San Antonio Holt Family's Terrell Hills home** **Note: Matching larger jardiniere offered in this auction**
10.4.24: In my opinion regarding LOT 1278: I note that both jardinieres are presently intact, retaining smooth rims at the foot and mouth that are currently free from observed chipping or fractures, one planter having a couple minute spots of iron pitting, both exhibit typical firing flaws concentrated at areas of curvature of thin segments of the applied peach and foliate elements, particularly to the thin, narrow ends of peach leaves, these small seams are inherent to the firing process and are common, most of the seams remaining under the glaze, both jardinieres having a few firing flaws that have split through the glaze at areas of peach mounting to the basin and along the branches but all currently remain secure, one jardiniere has an area of minor loss to a region of sculpted peach, an adjacent foliate also having loss with visible seam, one of these areas very slightly reacts under UV light along the seam and appears to have possibly been professionally reinforced to prevent further chipping at this spot, close visual and UV light examinations do not reveal further areas of fluorescence/ evidence of restoration
