(pair) Renaissance style patinated bronze sculptures, after Giambologna (Italian, 1529-1608), plinth with allegorical putti in relief emblematic of the Liberal Arts, on circular slate base, including: (1) Mercury, approx 34.5"h, (1) Fortuna, approx 33.75"h, accompanied by painted cast iron fluted pedestals, approx 29.25"h, 10.25"diam
Condition
CR 3.24.25-In my opinion regarding: LOT 3195: See attached for additional images, including one with a person standing beside the pedestal for scale reference, I note that the pedestal stands sturdy and is securely joined to the base of the sculpture (please note I am unable to view any hardware to see how it may have been secured to pedestal), the slate base of both having some typical minor chips to edges commensurate with use/ display, and being free from currently observed fractures, the bronze having light tonal variations arising from sparse minor rubs to the patina, the female figure appearing to have some drips that are darker in color, I believe these to be original to the production, likely a minor flaw with the chemical solution applied in the patination process, is overall minor, the painted finish of both pedestals remaining overall well-preserved and free from notable loss, close visual and UV light examinations of the pedestal and sculptures do not reveal evidence of restoration
