Very rare whaler's cup made from a bull walrus skull tusk socket, the socket (inside hole of the cup) which housed the tusk is 2 7/8" x 1 3/4" x 6 1/2" deep. The natural hhandle of the cup is the tendon sling which held the muscles of opening and closing the jaw, two massive walrus teeth are still intact on the perimeter of the cup rim. This is a very rare and unique piece of whaler's history and has period patina and wear. It is unknown if it was made by indigenous people or carved by a whaler, marked 1832 to the bottom.
