Royal Dux is one of the companies that came into existence, after a kaolin discovery in Bohemia. As one of it's specialties, Royal Dux created lifelike complicated figural porcelain sculptures, as this example indicates. Great care was taken to achieve a decent representation of natural skin tones. This piece sports an exceptional detailed face, with an orchid in the female form's hair and at her cleavage. Foliage streams down her neck as well as from her torso. The art is a fanciful merger of human form and plant life, reminiscent of Alphonse Mucha. Although the sculpture is an assemblage of molded elements, each piece is unique, as an artist blends and tools the assembly.
