Of globular form patinated bronze tripod vessel with fitted dome lid with 3D fully sculptured scull and lizard finial, depicting The Ryukyu Kingdom Mon (Royal Crest) (1429–1879) and thunderbolts among clouds; raised on attached 3D fully sculptured Temple Foo Lions; body hand chased depicting dragon above raging sea waves and stormy clouds sky, hand chased in oval reserve "Made by Hokushinsai (workshop name) of Japan" on the side and marked with non-standard character on the bottom. Provenance: old private collection, Pittsburgh, PA, by descent in the family to the current owner.
Condition
Good, nice patina, some wear and oxidation commensurate with age and use.
