Of rectangular form sterling silver tabatiere with hinged lid, hand chased with Royal College of Surgeons of England (former The Company of Surgeons) coat-of-arms and motto (design from 1745): "Quae prosunt omnibus artes" (the arts which are of service to all), signed on then bottom "Wm. Friend 1788"; marked with king head, lion passant, crown leopard head, makers mark "H.P" and date letter for 1787 on the inside. Overall weight 2.47 toz.
Condition
Very good, some tarnish and polish residues, light wear commensurate with age and use.
