Exceptionally well created sterling silver chamber candle holder with handle with thumb pieced, under-plate and inserted sterling snuffer; shell, acanthus leaf and fluted design; hand engraved coat-of-arms of Viscount Adam Duncan, Admiral, 1st Earl of Camperdown & Baron of Lundie, with motto on the under-plate: "Secundis Dubiisque Rectus" (Upright in Prosperity and Perils) and motto on the bobeche: ""Descepati Suffer" (Learn to Suffer); fully marked on the under-plate, bobeche and snuffer with lion passant, leopard head, king's head, maker's mark for William Smith II, and dated 1807. Overall weight 19.45 toz.
