• Lot Description
  Spun marble chapter ring with engraved Roman numerals filled with red paint. In the dial's center is a cast bronze shield, decorated with six Egyptian feather fans. Fleur de lis brass minute/hour hands. Hinged dial cover with flat edge beveled crystal. Linear Tiffany & Co on back plate under bell. Domed bell struck. 81.5m Japy type hour and half hour strike movement. Later rack and snail variety. The clock is a marriage of two non original pieces. The top of the clock case, has drilled holes for some type of original element. The bronze figure of a woman, has been attached to a brass plate, to allow it to sit on top of the clock case. The metal finish is different from the bronze pieces, assembled to the clock case. Although an artist rendition of an Egyptian noble woman, her garb is more Grecian then Egyptian linen. The clock case is composed of a base and top, of geometric shaped rouge marble, with a beveled edge; a center section of beige marble, decorated with hand engravings. Below six o'clock is a representation of the winged sun; although the position of the wings is artistic license; the object is called the behedeti, a symbol for divinity and power. Near two and ten o'clock, are death masks, sporting a traditional wig. On a flat panel perpendicular to the clock face, near the ends of the case; a winged figure is mounted on each flank, representing the child horus.   Condition

  The clock movement is covered in encrusted dust. Not running at inspection. The clock will chime with manipulation of the hands. Not running for decades; the movement will require a strip and overhaul. Missing hand washer and tapered cross pin. Some loses to marble along beveled edge. Missing pendulum. No winding key.
