  Large and carved and well polished jade ceremonial dagger-axe, Shang Dynasty style (ca. 1600 - ca. 1050 BCE), with archaic motif on handle with carved aperture, marked on the handle: "Take actions in accordance with Nature." Provenance: old private collection of native Chinese collector since early 20th c.; by descent in the family to the current owner.
