Charles Dickens signed note dated 1867, framed by J.J. Gillespie Fine Arts.
According to Charles Dickens US Tour Calendar, he was in New York City on December 14, 1867 on a reading tour. The note reads:
"Washington Hotel
Saturday Fourteenth Dec 1867
Dear Mrs. Fields,
A thousand thanks for your kind note, but we are engaged ourselves for the night. Do not forget you are to dine with me at 6 tomorrow.
With love to Fields
I am your affectionate friend
Charles Dickens"
Condition
Age toning, folding creases, some foxing commensurate with age. Partially torn at both folding lines. Please see last (lit up) photo for details.
