• Lot Description
  Charles Dickens signed note dated 1867, framed by J.J. Gillespie Fine Arts. According to Charles Dickens US Tour Calendar, he was in New York City on December 14, 1867 on a reading tour. The note reads: "Washington Hotel Saturday Fourteenth Dec 1867 Dear Mrs. Fields, A thousand thanks for your kind note, but we are engaged ourselves for the night. Do not forget you are to dine with me at 6 tomorrow. With love to Fields I am your affectionate friend Charles Dickens"

  Age toning, folding creases, some foxing commensurate with age. Partially torn at both folding lines. Please see last (lit up) photo for details.
