• Lot Description
  A portrait of a lady, ca. 1846, oil on canvas, by unknown itinerate artist, unsigned, in original frame, overall 35-1/4" x 30-1/4". Provenance: old private collection of Mr. Lawson Whiting, by descent from his mother's collection, Pittsburgh, PA; sitter - Mr. Lawson Whiting's great-great-great grand mother (through Edward Gregory Cox family line and Mrs. William B. Blake of Cranford, NJ, family line).

  Condition

  Good, restored, relined and cleaned in 2005, some sporadic old inpainting and losses to pigments along the upper left edge, some wear to frame.
