• Lot Description
  Figures in a country lane, 1896. Oil on canvas in heavy impasto, possibly signed "Gardner" and dated lower center, prior painting verso of canvas, old labels verso, in heavy ornate gilt frame, overall 45" x 51 ¼".

  Condition

  Craquelure, areas of paint loss visible along the top of the canvas near frame, scattered areas of paint lifting from the canvas creating tenting with some paint loss, inpainting concentrated to those areas visible under UV light, slight undulation to canvas, significant flaking to painting verso of landscape scene, stretcher has been re-keyed. Scuffs and old repairs to frame.
