1845 James K. Polk Indian silvered copper large Peace Medal, Julian IP-24, 75 mm; an early re-strike in copper with silver finish, using the new reverse die crated ca. 1849, dies by John G. Chapman and John Reich. The obverse has a hing-relief bust of President Polk facing left; the reverse shows the usual clasped hands and crossed pipes design that was "de rigueuer" in 1809-1849. Offered in a presentation display case with images copies paper roundels and note.
