• Lot Description
  These cufflinks were presented to Charles Cooley on his 55th Birthday in 1957 by his employer Bob Hope. Mr Cooley was a vaudevillian entertainer who tried to transition into movies. He could garner nothing but a short list of movie appearances with any credit. While appearing in movies starring Bob Hope, a friendship developed and soon Mr. Cooley was employed as Hope's personal secretary. He would make appearances in Hope's USO shows from time to time, but never returned to any form of entertainment as his life's work. He died in 1960 at the age of 58. The face of the cufflinks refer to Greenland, A USO show that Bob Hope would put on at the Thule Air Base. Total weight 19.3 gm. One cufflink engraved on the back "Charlie Cooley", the other "Happy 55 Bob Hope".
