• Lot Description
  A one of a kind ruana, sewn from vintage Japanese kimono silk. A versatile shape, the cape can be worn soft and loose or wrapped tight with one side pulled over your shoulder. Red strips of silk have been appliqued to emphasize the waving lines.

  A one size fits most, the cape measures 53 inches wide and 34 inches long.

  All pieces are hand made one at a time in my Portland, Oregon studio. Fabrics are vintage Japanese silks. These very special fabrics were woven, stenciled, tie-dyed and painted by Japanese artisans. Many were still in the bolt on their way to become kimonos. Others had been sewn into kimonos but were no longer wearable. I remove the hand stitching, wash and prepare the fabrics for their new life. Each piece I make is unique, most are one of a kind. I ship USPS priority at the beginning of the week.
