A one of a kind jacket sewn from a vintage Japanese kimono silk. The dark red and black fabric has a traditional design of maple leaves. The silk is a double ikat tsumugi. Tsumugi is a crisp, tightly woven fabric, prized for its warmth. Double ikat means that the threads are dyed in both directions and then woven. When open, the collar and facings are a deep red silk, matching the red in the jacket. It can be worn with the top button open or closed. 6 carozo buttons line the front. Pockets are in the side seams. The jacket is fully lined with silk charmeuse.
Reminiscent of the classic car coat shape, this flattering jacket is a loose, semi-A shape. The garment measures 49 1/2 inches bust, 52 inches hips, length at center back 29 inches. Size Large. [Approximate industry size 18.]

All pieces are hand made one at a time in my Portland, Oregon studio. Fabrics are vintage Japanese silks. The very special fabric used in this trench coat was woven by Japanese artisans, rolled into a bolt and carefully stored. When it came to me it was still in the bolt and had never been sewn into a kimono.
Each piece I make is unique, most are one of a kind. I ship USPS priority at the beginning of the week.
