A loose fitting, straight sided blouse, I call this design 'hitoe,' which means unlined. This versatile top can be worn on its own, like a blouse, or over something else like a light weight jacket. It is sewn from a beautiful Japanese kimono silk with a stylized ocean wave design. The open collar shows a blush colored silk with maple leaves. The sleeves, sewn from a contrasting black silk, can be rolled up to reveal the same blush kimono silk. For extra pop, the back is from another kimono silk, a black and white stripe. 5 glass buttons line the front.
Garment measures 45 inches bust, 47 inches hips, length at center back 23 inches. [Approximate industry size 14-16.]
All pieces are hand made one at a time in my Portland, Oregon studio. Fabrics are vintage Japanese silks. These very special fabrics were woven, stenciled, tie-dyed and painted by Japanese artisans. Many were still in the bolt on their way to become kimonos. Others had been sewn into kimonos but were no longer wearable. I remove the hand stitching, wash and prepare the fabrics for their new life. Each piece I make is unique, most are one of a kind. I ship USPS priority at the beginning of the week.
