Ron Stewart (American, b. 1941). "Have a Safe Trip" oil on canvas, n.d. Signed at lower left. A beautiful painting by Ron Stewart that demonstrates his use of traditional techniques employed by masters of the Old West. In this composition, Stewart has captured a poignant moment in which a group of traveling companions are preparing for their journey via horse and carriage. Illuminated by the subtle light of dawn or dusk, they pause in front of charming adobe edifices, perhaps to finalize their travel plans. It is clearly wintertime, as all are dressed in overcoats and wide-brimmed hats, and snow falls from the periwinkle sky, covering the rooflines as well as the roads they will travel. All is rendered with Stewart's brilliant palette and skillful delination of light and shadow in his signature realistic style, mounted in an attractive custom frame. Size (sight view): 19.25" L x 23.25" W (48.9 cm x 59.1 cm) Size (frame): 29.25" L x 33" W (74.3 cm x 83.8 cm)
About the artist: "Ron Stewart's professional achievements have made his work familiar to a wide range of discriminating collectors. Ron is among those who is tied hard and fast to the quality of painting and the historical fidelity of the Old West Masters. The refined artistic abilities in watercolor, oil and bronze are truly distinguished, yet Ron brings more to his work than just the professional precision of a skilled Western illustrator. The Ron Stewart hallmark is the representation of the mood and the atmosphere appropriate to whatever he approaches. His paintings breathe life into the dusty pages of western history, be it the bawl of longhorn cattle, the war whoop of the red men, or the mountain man in his wilderness solitude. Ron is a friendly, low keyed personality whose art speaks of an obvious talent, of technical competence and of a genuine love for the Old West." (artist's website)
