Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A fine pair of hand-built pottery figures both sitting cross-legged with hands on knees and wearing elaborate headdresses, necklaces, and belts. The figures display flat bodies with square shoulders, as well as pointed noses, full, closed lips, and coffee bean-shaped eyes. The larger figure is dressed in bracelets, armbands, and a loincloth, while the other wears a knee-length skirt. Size (of larger): 3.2" W x 4.3" H (8.1 cm x 10.9 cm)
Provenance: private Fayetteville, Arkansas, USA collection; ex-Dr. David Harner collection, Springdale, Arkansas, USA, acquired between the 1950s and 1960s

Condition
Repair to left arm of larger figure with break lines visible. Smaller is intact. Both have expected nicks and abrasions, commensurate with age. Both are very nice with nice mineral deposits throughout.
