- Lot Description
North America, United States, New Mexico, ca. mid 20th century. A fantastic and large pendant created by the imaginative jeweler Buddy Lee (1941-2018). This pendant is comprised of 96% silver, USA coins, and turquoise. The pendant is hand crafted with a generous piece of natural green turquoise set into a sterling silver bezel. Welded around the face are nine USA silver Mercury dimes, two Walking Liberty half dollars, and a large Morgan dollar coin. The verso of the face is flat and stamped with a hallmark "STERLING" and the name: "BUDDY LEE" with two leaves. Lee was a self taught artist and jeweler who hand crafted each piece, and no two pieces were identical. He had a whimsical style that drew inspiration from Native American cultures. The included chain is 91.75% silver and appears to be older than the pendant. Probably dating to the early 1900s with embossed floral designs on each link and a hook clasp, it is a complimentary addition to the pendant! Size (pendant): 4.75" L x 3.5" W (12.1 cm x 8.9 cm); quality of silver: 96%; (chain): 27" L (68.6 cm); quality of silver 91.75%; total weight: 289.7
