This is an amazing collection of 5 high quality (86% to 98%) silver ornaments from Viking, Byzantine, and later 19th century Europe. The Viking gathering includes a coiled spiral of thick 98% silver wire, a second 98% silver coiled wire ring, and an 89% silver flattened finial with stamped motifs and a curved rod, that may have been part of a brooch or hair pin. The Byzantine era 86% to 94% silver earring has an elegant openwork tip with twist shaped wires and applied granulated spheres. The English ring is 94.5% silver with beautiful filigree foliate and granulated designs. Condition
Bending, deformation, and twisting of forms for all items. Viking brooch piece has chip to broad finial end of the pin. Wire spiral is intact and very good, only slight bending to wire. Wire ring has light mineral encrustations and has a rough and inelastic surface, not recommended for wearing. Byzantine earring has a loss to the hoop tip and bending to hoop, and the granulated spheres are worn and slightly flattened. The filigree ring has mineral deposits within the filigree face, slight bending to band, and a loss to a lobe on the filigree face but is wearable. Dark patina and toning on all pieces.
