Classical World, Phoenician and Roman, ca. 400 BCE to 400 CE. A stunning strand of dozens of opaque and translucent glass beads in spherical, barrel, biconical, round tabular, and discoid forms. The ancient beads range in size from petite to quite large and graduate towards the center of the strand, boasting varying hues, such as scarlet, navy, turquoise, lemon, sky blue, marigold, caramel, while, and black. The larger beads are adorned with lovely target motifs, now known as the "evil eye," which is believed to hold apotropaic qualities. Once fit with a clasp, these beads could serve as an exquisite necklace that is sure to accentuate any outfit! Size (of strand): 18" L (45.7 cm); Size (of largest bead): 0.875" L x 1" in diameter (2.2 cm x 2.5 cm)

Condition
All beads are ancient and strung on modern strand. Expected abrasions, nicks, chips, and stable fissures to beads. Tiny areas of repair and restoration to 2 black discoid beads. Otherwise, excellent with light earthen deposits throughout.
