**First Time At Auction**
Central Asia, Turkmenistan and Afghanistan, Turkoman (Turkman) Tekke peoples, ca. early to mid-19th century CE. This is a stunning hand-woven carpet known as a torba in the style of a six-gol torba with a lovely and traditional geometric in a rectangular form decorated with hues of russet, crimson, umber, dark blue, and cream. The six-gol (literally "6 flowers") features six octagonal 'flowers' with petals on the interior and colorful geometric motifs on the exterior. The surrounding spaces and border panels are filled with more simplified floral decorations, and the length sides of the torba is lined with beige-hued fringe. This popular pattern was often woven by brides as part of their dowry to demonstrate her skill - weavings were an integral part of Tekke life. The best gol weavings have good spacing and the large gols are uncrowded and the geometric forms are sharp. This torba has a full and very lustrous pile with bright colors - a beautiful piece to display! Size: 43.5" L x 14.5" W (110.5 cm x 36.8 cm)
