Pre-Columbian, Mexico, Veracruz (Vera Cruz) culture, ca. 6th to 8th century CE. A beautiful incised ceramic vessel presenting a flat, circular base and impressively thin walls that curve slighting inward to an annular rim over a deep basin. Though the rim boasts a russet-hued slip, the body of the vessel is coated in a shade of cream on the exterior and light orange on the interior. The exterior is additionally adorned by 2 incised registers of abstract designs that wrap horizontally around the dish. Size: 6" in diameter x 3.9" H (15.2 cm x 9.9 cm)
This piece has been tested using thermoluminescence (TL) analysis and has been found to be ancient and of the period stated. A full report will accompany purchase.

TL holes to base and interior of rim. Collection number inscribed on base. Repaired from several pieces with restoration over break lines. Chip to rim. Otherwise, excellent with nice remaining details.
