Pre-Columbian, Caribbean Islands / Florida, Taino or Arawak peoples, ca. 15th century CE. A set of 2 hand-carved stone tools that were perhaps utilitarian in nature. First is a spade-shaped hand axe with a full groove around the handle, a pair of protruding thumb rests, and a broad blade with a significant divot in the center of the blade edge, perhaps formed from countless uses. The largest tool is a smooth, ovoid hand axe with a convex, petaloid blade, a shallow groove around the upper handle, and a string-cut bifurcation along the upper handle tip. Size of largest (petaloid): 6.875" L x 3.125" W (17.5 cm x 7.9 cm)
