Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A set of 2 hand-built pottery figures of flat forms, hence the gingerbread name. The first figure is a standing warrior who wears a thick loincloth, dons a large necklace and nose ring, and brandishes a lengthy club in both hands. His head is adorned in a central horn bound with a chinstrap as well as an abstract zoomorphic-style banner projecting upwards behind his head. The taller figure is a minimalist male with thick limbs, a petite loincloth, and an elongated head with triangular ears, nose, and brow horn. Size of largest: 3.25" W x 6.7" H (8.3 cm x 17 cm)

Condition
Warrior has repairs to proper left leg at thigh, proper left arm at elbow and tip of club, and zoomorphic headdress element; taller figure has restoration to bicep portion of proper right arm; both figures with resurfacing and light adhesive residue along break lines. Warrior has loss to one arm of zoomorphic headdress and bottom tip of club as shown. Both figures have minor abrasions and light encrustations. Nice earthen deposits throughout.
