Tim Lewis (American, b. 1952). Garden of Eden sandstone sculpture, 1999. Signed and dated lower right side. A wonderful stone sculpture depicting a Garden of Eden theme. Adam and Eve stand beneath the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil which is beautifully rendered with fruit and foliage. The serpent who will ultimately convince Eve to eat the forbidden fruit twists around the tree trunk between them. Beneath are the lion, symbolizing power and strength, and the lamb, symbolizing vulnerability and gentleness. Together they symbolize a peaceful coexistence between two contrasting creatures and by extension, a Paradise Restored where all creatures will reside in harmony. Size: 20.75" H x 12" W x 4.5" D (52.7 cm x 30.5 cm x 11.4 cm)
