Southeast Asia, Indonesia, ca. first half of the 20th century CE. A fine gathering of 3 hand-built wood, iron, and silver daggers known as pedang daggers. First is a petite dagger with a narrow blade, a lacquered wood pommel, an 82% silver handle, and an 86% silver sheath with incised floral motifs on the front. Next is a slightly larger dagger with an incised blade, a wooden handle, an 86% silver handle, and 85% silver panels on the top and bottom of the wooden sheath. The largest weapon features a gently curved blade with a prominent midrib, a handle and bulbous guard composed of 81% to 91% silver, and 93% silver panels on the sheath that flank the wooden midsection. Smallest has wooden pommel reattached to top of handle, losses to some spiraling wires around handle, abrasions to sheath, and loosening to wires on lowest tip of belt loop. Second dagger has abrasions and light oxidation to blade and silver sheath components. Largest dagger has abrasions and oxidation to blade and silver sheath components as well as several stable fissures to wooden pommel. All exhibit nice, lustrous patina throughout.
