Southeast Asia, Thailand, Sawankhalok (Sawankalok) culture, Sukhothai Period, ca. 14th to 16th century CE. A beautiful pottery vessel displaying a globular body and a corseted neck that bulges outwards and then inwards to a circular, lipped rim, all sitting upon a ring-form foot. A lustrous glaze in varying shades of brown from golden caramel to rich mocha envelops the exterior of the vessel, covering all but its base and foot, while a series of incised parallel striations encircle the rim, shoulder, and body of the ancient vessel. The rim is additionally embellished with 4 tubular loop handles. Size: 8" in diameter x 8" H (20.3 cm x 20.3 cm)
