Pre-Columbian, Valley of Mexico, Teotihuacan, ca. 3rd to 7th century CE. A wonderful pottery figure of flat form depicted standing with his short arms to his sides and feet jutting outwards. His massive head balances atop square shoulders as he stares forward from sunken eyes above a triangular nose and full lips held open as though mid-speech or song. The ancient figure is heavily adorned with a knee-length tunic, a collar necklace, large, annular earspools, and a thick headband just below a huge, flaring headdress. Provenance: private Fayetteville, Arkansas, USA collection; ex-Dr. David Harner collection, Springdale, Arkansas, USA, acquired between the 1950s to 1960s
