Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Nayarit, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A hand-built pottery female figure standing nude atop broad feet and delineated legs. Highly burnished and decorated with hues of orange, grapefruit, and burnt umber, the figure presents holding both bangle-adorned arms to her waist beneath perky breasts and has gently sloped shoulders that taper inwards to form the neckline. The elongated head features coffee bean-shaped eyes, a prominent nose with impressed nostrils, a petite mouth, and ring-adorned ears, all beneath a tall brow and a woven cap. Condition
Repair to proper left leg above thigh, with small chips and visible adhesive residue along break lines. One stable hairline pressure fissure in front of proper left arm. Nicks and abrasions to head, feet, and body, with fading to surface pigment, and light encrustations. Great preservation to overall form. Figure is unable to stand upright unassisted.
