Ancient Near East, The Levant, Syro-Hittite, 2750 BCE to 1900 BCE. A fine pottery figure of a woman or mother goddess that likely served as an idol for fertility in ancient Syro-Hittite culture adorned with a creamy beige-hued slip. The ancient figure stands on thick legs with both hands on her belly, just below her risen breasts. Her elongate head displays minimalist features, such as almond-shaped eyes, a triangular nose, and an open mouth, all topped by a shoulder-length coiffure or veil. Size: 1.6" W x 5.25" H (4.1 cm x 13.3 cm); 5.75" H (14.6 cm) on included custom stand.

Condition
Repaired at neck and waist with light restoration over break lines. Expected nicks and abrasions throughout with some softening of detail, all commensurate with age. Otherwise, very nice with liberal remains of pigment.
