Eastern Europe, Russia, southeastern Magadan Region, Seymchan, ca. 1967 CE. A gorgeous pendant made from a fragment of Pallasite meteorite set in a sterling silver bezel. The Pallasite is composed primarily of iron with some nickel content known as kamacite, as well as olivine crystal inclusions throughout, olivine is more commonly recognized as the gemstone peridot. Both sides of the slice have been polished until they achieved an incredibly lustrous finish, then covered with a clear protective coating. The open sterling silver bezel lets the light illuminate the matrix throughout. Fragments of this meteorite were found in the Yasachnaya River in 1967. In 2004, a substantial amount of additional material was recovered from the same site. This pendant is strung on a cord as a wearable accessory that is "astronomically" pretty! Size of pendant: 1.75" L x 1" W (4.4 cm x 2.5 cm); cord: 18" L (45.7 cm); silver quality: 92%; weight: 12.3 grams
