Ancient Western North America, Mesozoic era, ca. 252 to 66 million years ago. A stunning pendant made from a polished piece of vibrant dinosaur bone set in a sterling silver bezel and strung on a sterling chain. The bone is cut into an ovoid, convex face and highly polished to reveal the beautiful striations and colors. Swirls of purple lilac, gray, and mauve form marbled designs around a central ring of crimson red and glimmering quartz crystal - absolutely remarkable! The wonderful hues are a result of agatization - the bone having been replaced with silica minerals. The bezel has a scalloped crown rim, and a sterling back panel and bail to secure the bone in place. The sterling silver chain has a lobster clasp, and the pendant is ready to wear! Size of pendant: 1.25" L x 0.8" W (3.2 cm x 2 cm); chain: 20" L (50.8 cm); silver quality: 92%; total weight: 8.7 grams
