Leonard Baskin (American, 1922-2000). Watercolor on paper, 1991. Signed at lower right. Dated on lower left. A haunting watercolor by the one and only Leonard Baskin. The impressively large composition presents a skull/head that oddly enough possesses piercing blue eyes and a pronounced orange beak. Outlined in black, the visage emerges from a blood red background. Baskin was a creative force for more than 5 decades and worked in a variety of media. This beak-faced skull/head is rendered in Baskin's characteristically intense manner and grand scale. It is also set in a custom frame and hand signed. Size (painting): 30" L x 22.5" W (76.2 cm x 57.2 cm) Size (frame): 41.125" L x 33.25" W (104.5 cm x 84.5 cm)
