A gorgeous watercolor depicting elegant irises with beautiful petals of violet and magenta hues, golden yellow centers, and long spring green leaves by Jean Mahie, an artist who is perhaps best known for her handcrafted, one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces. Growing up in Carthage, Tunisia, the ancient Roman ruins in her native country moved Mahie to pursue art and design. In addition to painting, she learned blacksmithing techniques at an early age. Years later, Mahie perused the art of jewelry, creating coveted designs inspired by the ancient past as well as the natural world. Condition
This watercolor has not been examined outside the frame but appears to be in excellent condition. It is signed and dated on the rightmost, lower leaf. The frame is in very nice condition as well, fitted with a suspension wire and ready to display.
