Frederick L. Hamilton (American, 20th century). "Setting Nets - Cafe Taormina" photograph, mid 20th century, signed "Fred Hamilton" and titled "Setting Nets - Cafe Taormina" on the verso. A wonderful black and white photograph of two fisherman in the water, one on the left setting nets in accordance with Hamilton's title and one on the right wading in the water and looking to the homes and barns visible in the on the other side of the sound. All is set in a lucite mount. Size: 13" W x 7.375" H (33 cm x 18.7 cm); 14.5" W x 9" H (36.8 cm x 22.9 cm) in lucite mount.
Provenance: The William F. Draper Collection, New York City, USA, acquired via descent from the late William Franklin Draper (1912-2003), an accomplished American artist whose career spanned seven decades. Known as the "Dean of American Portraiture," William Draper was the only artist to paint President John F. Kennedy from life, and his oeuvre includes marvelous landscapes from his world travels, military paintings as he was one of only seventeen Combat Artists in WWII, and portraits of illustrious individuals.

Condition
Signed "Fred Hamilton" and titled "Setting Nets - Cafe Taormina" on the verso. Stamped "PHOTO BY FREDERICK L. HAMILTON / 123 LIBRARY LANE / SIMSBURY, CONN./ TELEPHONE 203-658-6741" on verso as well. Photograph has not been examined outside the lucite mount/framing but appears to have some waviness, minor staining and minute losses near the screws securing the framing at each corner.
