Woody Gwyn (American, b. 1944). Untitled monotype (a single print from an oil painting). Pencil signed below the image at lower center. A breathtaking monotype of a New Mexican view by Woody Gwyn, one of America's finest landscape painters, this piece epitomizes Gwyn's talent for employing striking extremes in dimension and theme in order to capture the infinite quality of picturesque New Mexico. In this monotype, Gwynn's mountain view is remarkably realistic and simultaneously conjures a sense of infinity. Gwyn lures the viewer in via the work's intriguing scale and dramatically generous border, a truly gripping technique that is almost theatrical in its effect. An outstanding piece, set in a custom frame and pencil signed below the center of the composition.
