Sky M. Jones (American, b. 1947). "Pastel Dawn" acrylic and lacquer on board, 1994. Hand signed and dated on lower right. A dazzling painting by Sky Jones that aligns with the tenets of the Romantic and Symbolist artists. In this composition, Jones has combined acrylic marbling with watercolor washes to create a beautiful composition that conjures the vast expanse of the sea and/or the sky and celestial realm. A large vertically oriented rectangular section of marbled pigments is surrounded by multiple sections that recede to create an illusion of depth and dimension. All is delineated in a rich palette of peach, rose, teal, aqua, sky blue, lemon yellow, violet, petal pink, forest green, plum, mauve, magenta, amber, sage, silver, black, and more. Finally, the work is floating upon a teal matte and set under glass in a custom frame. Size: 29.75" L x 20.25" W (75.6 cm x 51.4 cm) Size of frame: 42.125" L x 31.625" W (107 cm x 80.3 cm)
