Connie Renner (American, Contemporary). Oil on board, ca. 2000s. Signed by the artist on the lower right. A beautiful figurative painting with an equestrian theme by award-winning painter and pastelist Connie Renner. Renner has depicted two riders giving their horses and themselves a rest in the picturesque countryside. The landscape is lush and verdant, delineated with loose brushwork in Renner's Impressionist manner that lends itself to wonderful light effects. In addition, Renner is a skilled colorist and uses her rich palette to bring her subjects to life. It is also easy to see that Renner forms a deep connection to her subjects. With each work, she accepts and realizes the following challenge, "How can I communicate that I am in love with what I am painting." (Connie Renner, Artist Statement) Size of painting: 16" L x 20" W (40.6 cm x 50.8 cm) Size of frame: 21" L x 25" W (53.3 cm x 63.5 cm)
Connie Renner is best known for her figurative work and her portraiture. She works in both oil and pastel and points to the influences of Sargent, Monet, Degas, and Andrew Wyeth.
