Byron Bradley (American, 1922-2016). "Rindahl Homestead" oil on canvas, 1971. Signed and dated on lower left of canvas. A picturesque landscape painting that follows in the tradition of Luminism's serene views with diffuse sunlight casting a glow over the countryside by American artist Byron Bradley, a leading light of Grand Marais Art Colony, the longest running art colony in Minnesota. Grand Marais was a refuge where artists could be inspired by their natural surroundings during the summertime. In addition to being a prominent figure at Grand Marais, Byron Bradley was a professor at the Minneapolis School of Art and ran Kilbride Bradley Art Gallery with Bob Kilbride. A breathtaking painting that invites the viewer to experience the beauty of America's Great Lakes region! Size: 30" L x 40" W (76.2 cm x 101.6 cm) Size of frame: 30.75" L x 40.875" W (78.1 cm x 103.8 cm)
According to Byron Bradley's obituary, "Byron was a graduate of and later a teacher at the Mpls School of Art (MCAD). He also taught at the Minnetonka Art Center and at the Grand Marais Art Colony from 1954 until 1985; from 1959 on as a co-owner with Birney Quick. Byron and Bob Kilbride founded the Kilbride Bradley Art Gallery in the early 50s. Byron ran the art supply side and eventually expanded and moved it to 27th and Lyndale where it became KB Art Materials. With his incredible knowledge and willingness to share, Byron was a mentor to many of today's artists." (StarTribune, June 15, 2016)
