Ancient Near East/Central Asia, Sassanian (Sasanian, Sassanid) Empire, ca. 2nd to 7th century CE. A petite stamp seal of ovoid form, hand-carved from opaque chalcedony of chocolate brown, caramel, and burnt sienna hues. The hemispherical topside exhibits smooth surfaces and has a suspension hole drilled biconically through the body. Incised along the stamp face is a left-facing winged horse, colloquially known as the Pegasus, who strides with slender limbs to one side as it unfurls its wings into the air. Custom putty impression included. Size: 0.55" L x 0.4" W (1.4 cm x 1 cm); 1.8" H (4.6 cm) on included custom stand.

Minor abrasions to stamp seal, with light softening to some incised details on stamp face, otherwise intact and very good. Nice remains of incised winged horse details.
